Not all adoption literature is created equal. The NAF promotes books, magazines, articles and reference materials, often produced by adoptive parents, which educate families to all aspects of the adoption process. We also believe that the consumers of adoption services, including birth parents, adoptive parents and adoptees, should be protected from financial abuses or exploitation.

From time to time, we will recommend material to provide valuable information to help your family make sound decisions about adoption before and after the adoption takes place, to avoid unnecessary expense and to learn from leading experts in the field.

Magazines:

Adoption Today & Fostering Families Today
Adoption Today and Fostering Families Today Magazines, published by adoptive father, Dick Fischer and his Louis Publishing in Loveland, Colorado, are first rate sources of information for families, before and after their adoptions are finalized. The editor of Fostering Families Today is Cynthia Peck, the single adoptive parent of 11 children. The NAF Executive Director has served as an advisor to both publications and is on the editorial board of Fostering Families Today, where she has a regular column.

Books:

Adoption Nation
Adoption Nation by Pulitzer nominated Boston Globe reporter, Adam Pertman, is the National Adoption Foundation's Adoption Book of the Year. Pertman, who is an adoptive parent, provides an important historical and political overview on all aspects of adoption, replacing the many myths and misconceptions about adoption with solid information and facts. This is a must read for any prospective parents considering adoption as a way to grow their family. Read a review.
