Receiving Assistance

Who can qualify to receive assistance from the National Adoption Foundation's programs?
NAF programs are open to all adoptive families and their children. This means that whether you have adopted an infant, a child from abroad or children from foster care, you are eligible to apply for our programs.

What do we need to start the process?
Family should have a valid home study, or one in progress.

Grants

What can grants be used for?
Until we can make additional resources available through our grant program, grants are only available to families for the actual cost of the adoption.

What are the amount of the grants?
NAF's grants range from $500 to $2,500, depending on the needs the family has and the circumstances surrounding the adoption.

When will we find out if we're getting a grant?
Our selection committee meets four times a year, at the end of each quarter. Families will be notified by letter within two weeks that they have been selected. Funds will be disbursed to your service provider when services have been rendered.

How often can we apply for a grant?
Families can apply as often as they like. If you are not selected the first time you apply, you may apply again. Of course, if you are adopting more than once, those applications are also welcome!

Loans

What can home equity loans and lines of credit be used for?
Whether you need money for the costs associated with adoption, consolidating high-interest loans or home improvements - whatever your need - a home equity loan or home equity line of credit can help.

How can I apply for a U.S. Bank Credit Card?
It's easy!

  • call 1-800-853-5576 (ext. 8363)
  • or apply online

Other Programs

Who can access the Foundation's other programs like credit cards, insurance or other services?
Grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends may access these services in addition to adoptive families. Since our corporate partners make a contribution to our grant fund every time services are utilized, anyone can take advantage of these services and support adoption at the same time.
